Harry Brennan

Loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend. A generous, caring and giving person who will be sadly missed by all who knew him xx

Harry grew up on a farm in rural Ireland and was always very passionate about animals and this is why he has requested that instead of flowers, where people can, they give even the smallest of a donation to this fantastic cause enabling him to continue helping animals after his sad passing.

Alongside wife Shirley, all waifs and strays would be taken in and a loving, caring home provided. Down the years they had pets that included fish, budgerigars, a canary, cats and dogs (apologies to those missed) and at times growing up it felt like the family were on Noah's Ark but it was all good fun.

He loved the countryside and the farming way of life, always at his best when visiting his homeland of Ireland. Often you would call in to visit and Countryfile or a similar nature based program would be on the TV with Harry glued to it.

Another passion of Harry's was the Irish sport of hurling, especially his beloved parish team, Camross. He would often refer to the men in black and amber and ensure that everybody knew that they had won the most senior Laois hurling titles. He was never more happy then when back visiting his beloved Camross in County Laois and would attend black and amber matches whenever he could. Whilst in Laois he would be greeted by old school and church friends warmly as if he had never left despite the fact that he left in the early 60's.

Harry always saw the best in people and situations, a cheeky smile on his face, a glint in his eye and was known to be mischievous in a playful way. Extremely engaging, his personality and fun nature would light up a room.

Harry loved his family so much and there was nothing that he would not do for any of his grandchildren or his children. He would always be on the sidelines or in the audience cheering them on which was of great comfort and support to each and everyone.

Harry was the glue that held the family together, regularly phoning family members to check that they were alright and making a point on calling in on them as often as possible. He was a very kind man, always looking out and helping those who needed it, be it shopping for an elderly neighbour or helping family and friends. His thoughtfulness and kindness knew no bounds.

Never seeking the limelight, Harry ensured that everybody had a loving caring environment in order to be able to do the very best that they could. This gave everyone a great start in life and sadly is a debt that we (the children and grandchildren) will never be able to repay - THANK YOU xxxx.
