Nanny Gwen had the biggest heart for anyone and anything... she would give her last penny if she thought it could help.

Nanny has spent her whole life looking out and caring for others. After loosing her own mum at 12 and raising her 5 younger siblings she went on to have 3 wonderful daughters who eventually gave her and grandad 40 immediate family... from grandchildren to great great GREAT grandchildren! After working right until she was 60 and retiring with grandad they went on to rescuing dogs, being able to give them all the love and care she'd giving to her much loved family. From feeding the birds and hedgehogs in their beloved garden to giving and finding homes to all the unwanted dogs she possibly could, ending up with 4 of their own at once! After loosing grandad at 80 she continued to "save" and love as many dogs as she could and of course those birds and hedgehogs! Sadly 3 years ago she had to move into a care home where she insisted on a room with a window looking out over the garden so she could see nature at its best. She loved us to visit but of course we had to bring our dogs too! Nanny Gwen died on Sunday at the remarkable age of 97... we pray she's up there now with grandad walking her beloved doggies and listening to the beautiful bird song....

She was born and grew up in Battersea, raising her own family there and spending hours walking around the park and donating all she could to the dogs home so after leaving such a legacy it feels only right we continue her story...
