We lost the most amazing, beautiful man back in July 2020... my dad.

He was took from us after being diagnosed for only 3 weeks from small cell lung cancer. After living with heart failure for 12 years, he lived his best life but back in June his legs started to swell and after blood tests he got admitted into hospital with low Potassium.

Whist in hospital he had a MRI scan which showed up cancer of the lungs, liver and a multiple of other organs.

Mam and me managed to take care of him at home for 2 weeks when it spread to his brain, he received a round of chemo to prolong his life but it was unsuccessful. He was admitted into hospital due to needing medical intervention, after 6 days of not being able to see him due to COVID restrictions we were both aloud to sit with him. The staff at Sunderland royal hospital were fantastic, they stepped back and gave mam and me all my dads personal care, let us take the reins, play his favourite songs, this was on the Wednesday and sadly on the Friday morning he took his last breath with so much strength, pride and dignity.

I’m so proud to have had the honour to call him my dad, my hero. I know it’s been a tough year for everyone but for us it’ll be one well never forget or even get over.
